The Shoot

The Shoot: Geometric Lines

My oh my, it has been quite a while since I’ve updated this blog! The best way to explain it, is I went into winter hibernation while the crappy and uninspiring winter weather raged about outside. But to be honest, does anybody find it inspiring to do shoots for a blog in minus degree weather and gale force winds? So I took a little break, focused on work and my family and now that spring is finally being dragged back into the fore, its time to pick up my blog again.

The good news with me being away for so long is that I’ve got plenty of new ideas and inspiration for the shoot. The downside is that this year I won’t be able to work on my blog as much as I would have in previous years. My career is taking off (in finance no less, don’t ask me how I managed that one!) and I know I won’t have the time for it as much this year. So as opposed to two shoots a week like I used to do in the olden days, it’ll only be one and the rest of the blog posts will have to be trimmed down too, but the upside is I want to improve the quality as I won’t have as much to work on anymore.

I also got my hair cut quite drastically while I was off on my winter hiatus. My old long hair just didn’t look professional enough for my workplace and it was starting to break off, so I took the plunge and got it all chopped off. It’s still a bit strange to have it so short, but hey I kinda like it.

Now back to this post. This was shot at Hay’s Galleria, in Southwark and it’s such a cute little place to be. There are some really nice shops, restuarants, coffee shops and other little places all in this Victorian covered market space. I really do love finding quirky new places in London! Originally this shoot was meant to be a post on spring’s obsession with stripes, but it somehow morphed into a shoot about geometric lines and checked prints. I for one love this outfit, and the trousers are fantastic for working in an office! the colours are crisp and clean and so unlike what I would usually wear. I also love this Topshop sleeveless jacket as the material is nice and stiff and hangs so well.

So let me know what you think of the outfit and me finally being back again. Consider it an early Easter present from me. Happy Easter to all! 🙂
