Celebrate the summer heat with colour block swimsuits, denim patched jackets and plenty of pool inflatables.
It’s that time of year again; long hot sunny days, ice cream and poolside fun. For this summer’s swimwear shoot I wanted to do something different. Hence why these images have a Photoshopped background and bright coloured bands running through them. I’m usually such a stickler for doing shoots where the location is an important part of the process, so it’s quite freeing not having to worry about the background. The entire point and emphasis was on the outfits themselves and to highlight the poolside theme, they were shot in water too.
Overly large poolside inflatables in different fruits, foods and animals seems to the trend du jour for this summer and I took full advantage of it with an ice cream cone inflatable and a pink donut ring. they are both yummy and so much fun to play around with!
This year for swimwear I decided to focus on swimsuits as opposed to bikinis, which is the usual fare. For years they were considered the poor-man’s swimwear; boring, plain and very covered up. But over the last two years or so they’ve made a huge comeback and are actually quite sexy.
For this shoot I focused on the cutout swimsuits that show a bit more skin than usual. I went for the bright colour block pieces, because who doesn’t love colour in the summer and then accessorised them with a Topshop badge patched denim jacket and denim sequined shorts for one outfit, and ridiculously OTT gold jewellery, a bright pink Flamingo cross-body bag and bright shades for the other outfit. Overall it’s a clash of styles and colours and for that reason I love this shoot. Enjoy!
