Hello world,
It has been an age since I’ve posted a ‘Look of the Day’. I think it’s been about two years, either way it’s been way too long and it’s great to finally be back at it again. To be honest, at first I was very nervous about being photographed in public, still feeling very self conscious about my body after the birth of my son. It took quite a bit to get me to relax again and enjoy the experience and I think it really shows in these photos as they were the first. So please excuse that.
The story behind this skirt is a bit long, so I’ll try and shorten it for you. I bought this when I was heavily pregnant because it was a beautiful skirt and on sale, but I knew it would be a while before I could wear it again. So it’s been hanging in my wardrobe for about a year and the entire time I was exercising to try and get my figure back, this skirt would taunt me, with the label still attached because I never got a chance to try it on. Finally, it fits!!! I’m delighted, though I’ve still got a bit to go until I’m at my ideal weight, but fitting into this skirt made me feel so proud of the work I’ve already done.
The shoot was done at Kensington Gardens very early in the morning, at the beginning of March when it was still absolutely freezing outside! It probably shows in the photographs too.
The bralet is a gorgeous one I got from where else, but H&M Trend and it looks so plain and ordinary from the front, but I absolutely love the back detail. It’s very risque without trying too hard and I love that. So I had to team it up with my sequin skirt and a simple black blazer. The skirt is such a strong piece that you really can’t overload it with detail. The matching bracelet and necklace set from the Anna Dello Russo for H&M collection seemed like a natural extension of the outfit, and a chance for me to show off another piece that’s been in my wardrobe for over a year.
What I realised while uploading this post is the amount of H&M items in this outfit. It’s no secret that H&M is one of my favourite shops of all time, but sometimes even I realise how ridiculous my obsession with it has gotten. I think the only things that aren’t H&M are the Mango blazer, the heels and the clutch.
So what do you think of the outfit? I like it, even if the photographs didn’t turn out quite like how I imagined them, but hopefully that gets better with practice.
