Balmain’s Gold Rush for magazine covers

Hello world,

It seems that lightning doesn’t just strike twice; in the world of fashion it strikes seven times. That is what happened when this gold Balmain dress landed the covers of the top fashion magazines, not once or twice, but seven times!

That is either one heck of a coup for the Balmain press department, or a major embarrassment for the editors of the magazines.

Fashion magazines usually shy well away from using the same outfit over and over keep the image of exclusivity that is tied to designer outfits and it is not unusual for magazine covers to demand cover exclusivity on an outfit, yet unusually enough a spokesperson from the Balmain department responded that none of the magazines asked for this.

Either way, this dress is so coveted by the top editors in the fashion world, that it has now appeared on seven magazine covers, from Claudia Schiffer for Zeit Magazin to Natalie Vodianova for Haper’s Bazaar UK, Cindy Crawford for Vogue India, Anne Hathaway for Elle UK, Abbey Lee Kershaw for Vogue Deutsch, Toni Garrn for Vogue Espana and Anna Dell Russo for 10 Magazine.

Here’s the images from the Balmain frock as seen originally at London Fashion Week to the different magazine covers and see for yourself. Which one is your favourite?

Anna Dello Russo for 10 Magazine (Winter 2010)

Until then,
