By God was this a hard shoot to execute and finish off in post-production! Not only did I woefully mis-manage the set production, getting camera angles and body positioning right, meant that shooting this entire editorial took over 3 hours to complete! Considering I’m one girl with only 4 different outfits and 12 final images, that is a long time!
Despite all that, I love it nevertheless. This shoot taught me that I need to think more thoroughly when I build full-on sets for editorials.
So, the idea behind this shoot came from a Grazia China editorial I spotted on Fashion Gone Rogue several months ago, which also placed an emphasis on bold colours. I loved how they had gotten a range of models lounging in a space, and the idea came to me to replicate it, only the range of outfits and poses were all of me.
Because my actual set let me down quite badly, and I realised I was missing several pieces of equipment, I decided to lean heavily into post-production of the surrounding area of the image and take the backgrounds out of the images. What’s left is rather stark and empty, but seems to work in my eyes because it places even more emphasis on the actual outfits and poses.
Hopefully you guys like this shoot, because I kid you not it took approx 1 week to do post-production on in Photoshop! 🙂
