Did you know that all forms of light green are totally hot right now? It doesn’t matter if you focus on lime green, pistachio, avocado, mint or another food related hue, the colour is everywhere! Expect fashion’s obsession with the colour to stay well into autumn/winter too. But let’s not talk about the freezing winter months when we still have glorious summer. Let’s instead talk about how to wear summer’s hottest colour in a way that is cool and incredibly sexy. Because this colour is not for those of faint of heart. Sure it’s not a vibrant magenta, but it’s also not a colour of a wallflower. You need sun-kissed skin and shit loads of attitude for this shade. Read on to see how I style this lime green slip dress for summer.
Slip dresses are the perfect day-to-night wear. Sure, you might not feel that comfortable walking around in a slip dress during the day, but if you pop a white t-shirt underneath it makes the dress so much more casual and relaxed for the day. For the night, just pair with a strappy pair of sandals, remove the t-shirt and you’ve got the perfect party outfit. It also incredibly light and airy in the heat, and if you go for one made of silk or satin in natural fabrics, you won’t sweat as much.
I particularly love this satin slip dress from Reclaimed Vintage. It’s the perfect shade of green; a mixture between avocado and lime. The slip is midi length and has an empire-line waist, which is always one of the most flattering on my figure. If you’re pear-shaped or hourglass, empire-line is so the way to go. I also live the skinny straps and . How you can tie them yourself; it’s a nice added little detail with the ruched bodice. This detailing makes it seem a little different from the usual slip dresses on the high street.
Avocado on lime, the perfect combo for a food-themed fashion trend
I paired them with these amazing pointed toe sandals from Mango. They are both in light green, which complement the dress, and with lots of cross-over straps. The bag is from a new brand I discovered on ASOS called Liars & Lovers, and it’s such a cute little bag. I love that it’s a rich brown, croc effect, has a round-top handle made of bamboo and somehow looks very eighties, but not. It’s got so many little details on the bag, that I love it the more I look at it. The bracelets and earrings are Zara and Primark, and got both picked up about 6 months ago, so unfortunately they’re very much out of stock right now. But add a cute little extra to the entire outfit.
