Style inspiration and a trip down memory lane

Hello world,

While reading through all my blog posts yesterday I came across this absolutely to-die-for Pucci dress from Garancé’s blog, and I absolutely LOVE it!!!

It strangely enough reminds me a lot of one of the dresses from Star Wars Episode II, Attack of the Clones, which is odd considering the only thing they have in common is that both are tie-dyed dresses.

But since my Mum made a version of that dress many years ago for a girl entering some beauty pageant contest type thing, that must be the reason it’s stuck in my brain.

I also have rather horrific memories of having to do a photo shoot when I was 16 for my Mum wearing the dress in question because she was launching her website at the time. Even though it was done completely professionally in Dun Laoghaire college by a student photographer in the studios on campus, I vividly remember feeling incredibly awkward and uncomfortable throughout the process. It also scarred me quite a bit when it comes to modelling.

It’s strange what memories pop up when looking at pretty clothes. Who would have thought it, nine years later I would voluntarily do outfit shoots twice a week? Surprisingly that awkwardness still hasn’t left me.

Until then,

Franzi

Fresh out of college with an MA in Journalism, a passion for clothes, fashion and styling shoots, I was also the fashion editor of a magazine my colleagues and I set up called SCOPE magazine, which was disbanded three years ago. For now I'm just a freelance journalist and blogger.
Other than obsessing about fashion, I love theology and history, writing apocalyptic fiction (it's weird, I know!) and the occasional weeekend of horse-riding if I have the time and I don't injure myself in the process.
