A big theme of this year’s iteration of this fashion blog has been revisiting locations from previous years where I either had a great idea for the location again, or it was a location that wasn’t utilised as well as I’d like it to the first time around.
One of these locations was this lavender field in Banstead in Surrey that last appeared on this blog back in 2014, found here. While the shoot was great and it was such a beautifully sunny day the day the shoot was done, I did do the shoot just a little too late in the season and half of the lavender had bloomed already and the purple of the lavender wasn’t half as vibrant as it could be.
So for this iteration of the shoot, I needed to go much earlier in the season and do the shoot. Unfortunately we had no sunshine this time around, but thankfully the vibrancy of the lavender was strong enough to make up for it.
For the outfit I wanted to mix stripes and polka dots, both strong trends for spring/summer and trends that’ll carry on through the autumn/winter season too. The colours needed to be as neutral as possible for the purple of the lavender to stand out even more so I decided to go only for black and white. And for the heels, I thought I’d pay my own little homage to the last lavender shoot by pulling out my patent black Valentino Rockstud heels and teaming them for this outfit. I rarely wear them for shoot anymore; they’re nowadays always under my desk in the office, so it was nice to pull them out for a shoot again.
