First off, an apology is in order for not posting any shoots for the last two weeks. I have been swamped in work and I just didn’t have the energy to finish this post off and publish it on the blog.
But it’s finally here. Yay!
So this shoot was done almost a month ago in Covent Garden. The inspiration behind the shoot is a little hard to tell, but it’s inspired by Dolce & Gabbana’s spring/summer 2016 collection and their Italia is Love theme. I fell in love with the entire collection; the prints, the colour, the love of all things Italian and I wanted to recreate it somehow. Somewhere in between the ideas stage and actually planning and executing the shoot a lot of this Italian theme was lost, but the location is still an homage to it.
Covent Garden piazza was modelled after the piazzas of Venice when it was built in the 16th Century so there is that tie-in. It’s been lovingly restored and now houses craft markets, designer shops ad fantastic eateries. It is a favourite of mine in London and many Londoners and I have been wanting to do a shoot here for years.
The outfit is my own take of the Dolce & Gabbana spring collection. I kept the over-the-top accessories and colourful turban, added my own version of bold, bright stripes in this amazing River Island top and finished it off with bright and clashing bright Kurt Geiger sandals. Can I just point out how amazing this Topshop Carnival necklace is? I love it to pieces, but at £30 it is a bit pricier than your usual fare from Topshop. Lastly the white dress worn underneath the top is an oldie from ASOS, that featured on this blog back in 2014, here. I love reusing older pieces and giving them a new spin in some of my shoots, because let’s face we keep our clothes for more than a few months. 🙂
