Hello world,
Today’s ‘Look of the Day’ shoot had to be split into two shoots, a first in my books especially when the original shoot was done in May. Now I’ve had to work a shoot around the weather before; I do live in the UK and before that in Ireland, which let’s face it are very wet countries, but I’ve always managed to come away with at least a handful of useable images. It’s part of the package of being a blogger in this type of climate, but the weather has never beaten me before, until now. And in May too! I’m absolutely outraged! So here are the only two images of the original shoot that I could use among the tropical plants where this outfit was meant to be showcased.
When I first began planning to do a bikini shoot for the blog and I started researching all the swimwear trends for summer ’14 I honestly tried my hardest to stay away from the tropical print trend. There was even a really cute pink floral bikini I spotted in Topshop, but when it came to buying the outfit they didn’t have my size and when I tried on a similar style I realised high waisted bikini bottoms really were not my friend. I almost despaired at finding the right bikini, when I spotted this baby from Zara hidden in the back of the shop and completely inconspicuous.
Then there was the matter of this very cool cropped football jersey from Primark and suddenly the mixing of trends and colours just seemed the perfect fit.
Ergo my new name for this hybrid of a trend; ‘sporting tropics’. It’s casual and exotic with the orange colours and is more relaxed than most swimwear ensembles. I think these two babies are going to be firm friends for the summer!
I will make one small admission though in regards to making and posting this shoot. I am quite self conscious about my body since the birth of my son as my tummy has never returned to what it was pre pregnancy, so it’s taken a lot of courage to put these images up there and say this is me. I’m not perfect looking and I do still need to work of my tummy and my thighs but I’m proud of my achievement so far. Plus I actually have a bit of junk in my trunk! 🙂
