The Shoot: Pushing Daffodils

Hello world,

Today’s ‘Look of the Day’ is inspired by spring finally arriving in London. The daffodils are out in bloom, the sun is shining and it’s actually somewhat warm! It’s the first chance I’ve gotten to wear something summery and pull out all my skirts again and I intend to make the most of it.

I’m loving the return of the midi skirts. This one here is so Dior spring/summer 2014 and I honestly thought I couldn’t wear it, what with being so short and pear-shaped. But I was surprised to see that a pair of heels and a nipped in top overcame me looking short and stumpy. I also love the texture of the full skirt, which unfortunately the photos don’t adequately show. It also came in peach, but I thought the black was so much more classic.

I decided to go for basic colours; there’s nothing quite like matching black, white and red to create a strong look.

I loved the red bustier from H&M. It’s unfortunately no longer on their website, but should still be available in stores. It also gave me a chance to use my Hermès Birkin and it complimented well with the entire outfit.

My fiancé calls this my fifties housewife look, but I honestly think this outfit is smart enough to be worn in the office, teamed with a blazer. It’s very formal in one way, but also quite youthful with the bustier. The white heels, from Primark, just complete the look.

So I hope you like this outfit. I’m absolutely loving the skirt and I’m already thinking up more outfits that I could wear it with. Let me know what you think, as always.
