The Shoot

The Shoot: Polka Dots and Pastels, Part 1

Yay, it’s time for another series of shoots! Though this blog has been a bit quiet for about a month or two; that doesn’t mean I’ve just been laying out in the sunshine and procrastinating. I have actually been a very busy little bee, doing shoots all over the place. I was also getting everything ready for The September Issue, which I’m bringing back this year. Double yay! I’m back with a new series of shoots called Polka Dots and Pastels.

But since it’s depressing to talk about the autumn when summer hasn’t finished yet, and with the weather we’re having right now in London we won’t. You’d think every Londoner was desperately clinging onto every last drop of heat and sunshine here. Let’s focus still on some wonderful summer shoots. And nothing could be brighter and more joyful than this polka dot and pastels series I have for you. I have three different outfits, which will be split over three different posts. They were all shot a few weeks ago on the south coast of Kent and Sussex.

I done a whopper of a day of a shoot, so I’m still working on the video footage. And possibly, if the content is good enough I’ll post it as a vlog on YouTube. I’ve been meaning to set up my YouTube channel for months, so this is a good incentive to finish it off.

But let’s go and talk about the shoot at hand. It’s called polka dot and pastels and is pretty self-explanatory. Polka dots, unusually enough popped up quite a bit around the end of June/July, and they seemed such a fun micro-trend I just had to shoot them. I ended up in a sleepy and pretty little seaside town called Seaford. I chose this place because of the white cliffs there. It turned out to be quite a dreary day, so not the best usage for the location, but this outfit sure brightens everything up.

The outfit is made up of a H&M pastel blue bodysuit, this lovely pale yellow Stradivarius blazer and this cute ruffled polka dot skirt from Zara. Annoyingly the skirt sold out about a week before my planned shoot, so I really did have to scour throughout London to find one that could somewhat fit me. I ended up going with an XL and pinning it at the back, lol. This yellow bag is from a brand called South Beach, that I’m loving more and more lately. The heels are a very, very old pair of sunflower yellow print Kurt Geiger heels that fit really well with this outfit.

Stay tuned for the next post in the Polka Dot and Pastels series. You’re gonna love the outfit!
