Channel your inner Queen of Hearts this Valentine’s season, by embracing the heart prints, delicate whites and bold red accents.
The holiday is one that evokes a lot of strong emotions among people and couples in particular. Some absolutely love the holiday because of the hope and expression of love and joy, and others view it as a clever marketing ploy.
I personally am rather ambivalent to the holiday. I’ve never felt the need to either celebrate it, or ignore it completely.
But I’m trying to embrace more themed fashion editorials, and I have never done a Valentine’s shoot or a shoot about hearts before.
Instead of just doing a standard shoot of me in a beautiful red flowing dress and clutching red roses, I thought I’d play with the theme a little, and instead went for a Valentine’s version of the Queen of Hearts. At first it was meant to be quite Tim Burton-esque, and a serious play on the Alice in Wonderland movie. But I decided to tone it down quite a bit and focus on the playing cards concept instead.
The outfit is me playing around with what I usually shoot. You usually never see me in a tutu-style skirt, so I really tried to tone down it’s childishness and girlishness by pairing it with this heart-print blouse that is actually a pyjama top from Missguided and these amazing 6 inch Louboutin heels. So the end result is something quite playful and youthful, which I’m really happy with.
