Become the queen of the morn, in regal red and decadent Baroque accessories as the first rays of the sun spread across the plain.
Every season I have a favourite collection from the runways. For spring/summer 2015 it was without a doubt Dolce and Gabbana’s Sicilian romantic collection, complete with black and red, lace and baroque accessories. I loved the trend so much, I already covered it a little a few months ago here. But there was something about those Baroque crowns and the gorgeous cross earrings, that I just had to have. Well Dolce and Gabbana’s crowns weren’t just ridiculously expensive, they were also incredibly hard to find, but as so often happens, places like Etsy and eBay had their own variations. And that’s where my crown and earrings were from and even more wonderful, they were ridiculously cheap!
This shoot was all about showcasing this amazing Baroque crown and accompanying earrings, so I went for a trusted old red maxi dress from River Island that’s gotta be at least 4 years old by now. I wore it long before my son was born here, when I was heavily pregnant and it still fits me after all these years. The outfit didn’t need a lot more, just a couple of gold bracelets by Hermès and Tiffany, an ancient gold skinny metallic belt by Zara and a trusty pair of grey boots by Dorothy Perkins. To be honest who needs any more with such a beautiful summer sunrise, a wide open plain punctuated by a small herd of deer here and there and the sheer beauty of Richmond Park.
I do love doing shoots so early in the morning. It’s a pain dragging yourself out of bed at three in the morning, when everyone is still fast asleep, especially on a Sunday. Once you get out to the location though, the adrenaline kicks in and I get such a rush from doing a shoot with no-one around and just nature as company. This is especially obvious on shoots like this one, where the only company you have are a herd of curious wild deer and the warm rays of the sun. Seriously, what could be more heavenly?
So enjoy these images, as they were a sheer joy to make and I really do love the end result.
