Designer versus High street

Designer vs High Street: Emporio Armani vs Topshop

Let’s face it, most of the time when high street brands rip off designer pieces, it’s a brand usually more high profile and at the top end of the price point. We’re talking Chanel, Saint Laurent and Burberry, not the cheaper diffusion line Emporio Armani. That’s what makes this one such an odd case of designer vs high street. The second odd thing is that this time the high street brand is Topshop of all brands, and not one of the usual suspects.

But here we are, Topshop ripping off a £400 pair of spring/summer 2015 Emporio Armani flats.  I don’t quite know how I feel about this; Topshop have never needed to rip off others’ designs, heck they get designers creating collections for them, yet the similarities between the two flats, especially the black pair of Emporio Armani flat sandals, are too close to just be coincidence. Were the designers and buyers of Topshop too lazy this season, or did they run out of designs, who knows, but it’s another one for the collections. Let me know what you think.
