Hello world,
You know what I listened to all day in the office today? People yelling up and down the office about fashion week. In fact I heard those two words so much today, I’m starting to think I’m working for a fashion only magazine!
It has gotten me really excited for the next three weeks, despite a rather lacklustre weekend where I only again spent too much money, money I didn’t have.
So, while I like New York Fashion Week, even if the designers showing there aren’t generally my kind of thing, one of my favourite designers, Victoria Beckham showed on Sunday.
Who would have ever thought it five or six years ago that the biggest WAG (British term for the wives and girlfriends of footballers, and probably one of the main causes of the degradation of our society in the noughties :-P) would throw off the horrible term and become a reputable fashion designer. A fashion designer I actually love following?
So, this season she departed from her signature ‘ladies-who-lunch’ style of dresses to something a lot more classically American and sporty. It has a Calvin Klein feel to it, while still being exquisitely crafted pieces for which she has become acclaimed for. And do I spot flats on the runway too?
No doubt she was influenced by the recent birth of her fourth child, daughter Harper, that caused her to become so much more casual; and boy does it look good!
I’m also glad to see that strong colours are still dominating as that was one of my favourite trends from S/S11 and one I’m still desperately clinging to come autumn!
