Hello world, Happy Christmas! How is everyone doing on this most wonderful of all days? I am personally looking forward to a humungous Christmas dinner and lots of Harry Potter movies afterwards. It’s going to be amazing. In between all the eating, I’ve managed to post a little ‘Look of …
It’s been a few months now since I moved to London and as it happens, as a newbie to in city, it takes a while until you find all the cool places not mentioned in the guide books. I’m generally not the kind of person go out and explore much, so I’m really grateful for my blog for pushing me out there to discover London all under the guise of finding new shoot locations.
That’s how I stumbled upon Battersea Park as seen in these pictures. I initially just wanted to shoot the Peace Pagoda along the Thames, but I discovered that the park is way prettier this time of year.
When I first saw all the leaves on the ground I knew I had to shoot something there in red and it had to be dramatic.
So these are the images for today’s ‘Look of the Day’. I know the title is from a very cheesy song by an Irishman most Irish people never want to acknowledge as their own, but it seemed the best way to describe this look.
The dress is a lovely number from River Island. I love how River Island seem to come into their own around Christmas time and the party season. The brand isn’t for everyone and I wouldn’t shop with them for basics (with the exception of jeans) but they do have a knack for creating statement pieces. Last year was this shredded red maxi dress that I returned and regretted ever since and this year it’s this understated and sexy maxi dress with long sleeves.
It’s funny as I get older my style has definitely toned down a lot and I find that the days of wearing mini skirts and high heels are gone, only to be replaced with a new kind of sexiness, that is more body-con and peekaboo sexy rather than the in-your-face kind of my teens.
And the jacket is another statement piece from River Island for the Christmas season from the year before last. See what I mean about their Christmas show-stoppers?
As you can probably tell from this photo, it was ridiculously cold when we shot this and I must have been crazy that it would be alright at eight am on a freezing November morning. By the end I was so numb my boyfriend was worried I’d get hypothermia and I was bundled up for the rest of the day trying to shake off that horrible chill.
I’m sorry for rambling on so long on this outfit post but I wanted to share with you the last two photos as I wasn’t the only person doing a shoot in Battersea Park that morning. One Direction, a teeny bopper UK boyband were filming their new music video and I stopped by to have a gawk, purely for research purposes! 🙂 I was rather jealous of the full crew they had to help out, if nothing else as I wouldn’t be a fan of their music. The funny thing was there wasn’t a fan in sight.

These are the last photos for ‘The Jewel of the Swampland’ shoot I done a couple of months ago. Since they’re only one or two images, it wasn’t enough to put them as a blog post on their own.
I hope to have some new outfit posts for Wednesday and they are going to be way nicer! I’m a little blasé about these images, so maybe you might like them.
This is the second part of the shoot I done a couple of months ago. This one I’m quite fond of as the pictures are a lot more natural than I usually manage to pull off.
It was hilarious to shoot on the small pier because the family of swans really wouldn’t leave me alone all day. They were so inquisitive, even though I was quite nervous of them as their young were there and swans can be quite dangerous. Not to mention I had a friend who had their arm broken by a threatened swan.
Ultimately it was quite apt that they stuck around for the shoot and that’s why I named it black swan. They are beautiful creatures.
Let me know what you think of it.
I’ve had these sets of shoots sitting on my laptop for two months now and I’ve never found the time to finish them off and post them on the blog.
They are part of a shoot I done, called ‘The Jewel of the Swampland’ back in September, hence why I could walk around in a dress and not freeze my ass off.
I’m not a hundred per cent sure about them, so let me know what you think.
This is by far the best ‘Look of the Day’ I’ve ever done for this blog and it came across by pure accident. We had done the Baker Street shoot the night before, I was feeling pretty poorly and while those images weren’t the best, these ones came out fantastic. I love it when I barely have to do any photoshopping on them afterwards. The lighting was perfect, the camera worked brilliantly and even the cheers and usual catcalls I get when shooting on such a public place didn’t distract me.
This is my take on the metallic theme that we see every Christmas period. I tried to stay away from the overt sequins and metallic feel and go for something more subtle. With the stark grey architecture and metallic pieces at Westminster station, I thought it would be the perfect complement.

Ever since my very first day in London, when I accidentally discovered the old section of Baker Street tube station, I have been in love with this slice of Edwardian London. Every time I walk through the archways with the clock above, I think of London a hundred years ago and I knew I had to do a ‘Look of the Day’ shoot here.
Since it feels so vintage, I thought, what better than to channel the forties trend we’re seeing on the high street now, only with bold colours. Annoyingly the day that we done this shoot, they had shut that section of the station, so we could only do the atrium part. Still, it could have been a whole lot worse.
It’s funny looking back on those photos, as I was just getting sick that day and my boyfriend was threatening me with calling off the shoot all day unless I take it easy. Thank God I don’t look as sick as I felt. Ah the wonders of make-up!
Let me know what you think, and as always the information for what I was wearing is below.

Loafer heels: River Island
Hello world, Even though I’ve been living in London for over four months now and it really shouldn’t still surprise me, but then there are times when walking down the street that I find something that makes me fall in love with this city even more. If I wrote a …
God it’s been a lifetime since I posted a look of the day. Well this one is hot of the press, so to speak as we done it last night after the Christmas lights had been turned on on Oxford Street. Oh how pretty they are too!
I’d also like to give a big thank you to my wonderful boyfriend who had to listen incessantly to me explaining about lighting and aperture as he filled in for my usual photographer.
Now that Halloween is officially over, it’s time to rock the party dresses. My favourite time of the year.
Here is my interpretation of the party season and as always let me know what you think.

Hello world, This is just a quick post on Look of the Day. These photos were done about a month ago, back when we still had frequent sunshine, lots of warm weather and what looked like a summer. Now autumn has truly kicked in and I for one am sad …
