The Shoot: North Woolwich pier, East London

Hello world,

I’m back with another Look of the Day, in what three months? I’m not quite sure how long it’s been other than it’s been way too long.

This one was shot in east London at North Woolwich pier, hence the name, after a few days I spent exploring this dilapidated and forgotten part of London. Sometimes I just love grabbing my camera and exploring places like the old docklands. There’s a certain rush you get to climbing over barriers and going into restricted areas to see the parts of London you usually wouldn’t see.

As you can see this pier and boathouse is quite neglected and in a way it was quite dangerous to do the shoot there as half the wooden floorboards were rotten through and missing. It was also extra cool that that morning was quite misty, so the City is almost lost in the mist.

The top and trousers are from H&M Trend, as per usual. I really would love to see them do a collection that I don’t end up buying every piece from. I really gotta learn to vary my shops a bit more.

So let me know what you think of these images and I’ll be back in the next couple of days with another post.

Until then,

The Shoot: An Ecumenical Matter

The Shoot: An Ecumenical Matter

Hello world,

This is a bit of an oddball of a shoot. It was done back in the west of Ireland while visiting my mum and the idea came upon me while scouring through all the old sheds and outhouses that probably hadn’t been touched for years before Mum moved in.

Anyone who knows a little about the Irish knows it’s not that odd to find old religious paintings in the shed, but the amount found here surprised even me. The previous owners looked like they had developed a bit of a collection.

What really struck me when I saw them was how traditionally Irish the entire setting was and how beautiful in it’s own way it was too; the ivy creeping into the shed through the old broken windows, the dresser and half-decayed paintings and the wild Connemara wilderness right outside our door.

So maybe this theme is a little overt, but it’s kinda soothing too and I got a chance to show off my polka dot skirt from my recent find here. The only thing is that the lighting couldn’t show off the brightness of the skirt, bit you win some you lose some.
Let me know what you think.
