Step into two of this season’s hottest trends combined; the over-the-knee boots and the velvet trend in these fabulous boots and strut your stuff outside the historic National Gallery at Trafalgar Square.
I fell in love with these gorgeous navy velvet boots from Kurt Geiger months ago, when they first published some of their promo materials for the autumn/winter season and they announced that Lara Stone would be fronting their campaign once again. They honestly seemed like the perfect combination of those amazing patent Christian Dior over-the-knee boots and the velvet trend, that though it hasn’t really hit the high street yet is gonna become HUGE for the Christmas season.
So usually the way high street brands operate is that they showcase the best of their season’s collection in the promotional material and it usually takes months and months before the item finally arrives in the shops. I’ve often had it with many brands (I’m looking at you in particular, River Island!) where they feature certain pieces in their promotional material and press days and it never ends up in a store. Not only is that an absolute let-down but also quite infuriating when you’ve built an entire outfit and shoot around a piece that eventually never sees the light of day.
So you can imagine my absolute surprise, when a star piece of Kurt Geiger’s autumn/winter collection ended up in the shops in September. In fact not only was it in the shops, you could also buy it online! Now granted, it’s a little difficult to get your hands on a pair in a size 6 in London right now because nearly every size has been commandeered by a press officer for some shoot/famous person/event. I did manage to get my hand on the last size 6 in the Portobello Road store and thank God I did!
These images do not do the colour justice as it’s actually quite bold and bright for a navy blue and the boots really are as gorgeous as they seem. They would make the perfect party addition for the Christmas season, so that’s why I styled it very much as a party outfit. The dress is from Missguided, and I’ve been meaning to shoot it for almost six months now. I’m actually quite surprised it’s still in stock on their website, but last I checked it was still there. The accessories I kept very light, because who needs any more with this beautiful high necked lace dress and those boots? The bag is my trusty Hermès Constance in fuchsia, that’s getting quite battered now from all the wear and the bracelet is Tiffany T by Tiffany & Co and the cuff is my Hermès Collier de Chien that is almost falling apart by this stage.
The photos were taken by my very talented and wonderful hubby, a rarity these days, but I do love spending mornings doing shoots with him as he always makes me laugh and smile. 🙂
