Mary Katrantzou and Adidas: A New Match Made In Heaven

Hello world,

Well this was unexpected. I didn’t think I’d be getting two major collaborations of my favourite designers with high street brands this close together. But it looks like Mary Katrantzou’s latest collaboration is with sports giant Adidas. And just when I was getting around to buying those expensive Nike trainers and converting to them, Adidas came and blew it all out of the water.

Set to launch sometime in November, this is more than just a once-off collaboration and it will debut clothing and footwear.

“I’m really excited to be working with Adidas,” Katrantzou told Vogue this morning. “I grew up, like so many other kids around the world, wearing Adidas sneakers and I’m really excited about bringing my vision to such a global brand. They have a fantastic heritage and their ability to innovate in sportswear makes them the perfect partner for us to work with in this market.”

Equally as excited is Dirk Schoenberger, Global Creative Director of Adidas’s sport style division. “I admire Mary’s extraordinary sense of printing techniques, colours and silhouette that will bring another amazing new aesthetic to the adidas originals women’s collection,” he told Vogue.

Now, I was never the sporty kind, whether it’s exercise or wearing sports clothing. I’ve always been more feminine and classic, but lately I’ve been leaning towards sports apparel, so I’m genuinely curious to see what they are going to come up with. Will it just be their standard sports gear with Mary’s quintessential prints all over it, or will they be wearable daywear?

I honestly can’t fathom how this collection will turn out to, so I’ll be eagerly waiting for the first images to hit the web.

What do you guys think of this new collaboration? Will it be worth it? Let me know.

Until then,

Franzi
